Volunteer: SLI Summer VolunteersThe Summer Learning Institute (SLI) focuses on art, science, and history, with many interactive and engaging learning experiences for students 5-13 years of age. All classes are taught by education professionals over an eight-week schedule with assistance from this volunteer opportunity. Shifts are Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. and volunteers can select which weeks they'd like to serve. Flexible schedules are available. Training/support will be provided by a specific staff lead, though a SLI Counselor application is required to be submitted, reviewed and approved before beginning. You'll have the opportunity to help greet members and check in for the event! Opportunity OverviewShifts: 7pm-8pm, 8pm-9pm & 9pm-10pm. Volunteers are welcome to do 1, 2 or all 3 shifts! Training: You'll meet your event lead inside the main lobby of the Museum for a quick training. Support the team with setting up for the event, greeting guests, and tabling along side Casey Hill, generating interest in the new building & acting as an ambassador for The Brown. Event Description: Join Christian Traverson, Planetarium Manager and Assistant Curator of Science from The Cici & Hyatt Brown Museum of Art, Science & History at the Shores Community Center for a talk on the history and current science on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, from Project Blue Book to modern investigations and the broader search for life. This program is part of The Brown’s Museum in Motion. While our physical doors are temporarily closed during construction, the Museum is more active than ever—bringing one-of-a-kind programs directly into our community.
